We're a couple who turned storytelling into a multi six-figure venture. Big on community, freedom and this wisdom of Wendell Berry! Our mission? Help wedding photographers raise their rates and book more (without the burnout)!
Unpopular opinion..
There’s a common idea floating around in the photo community about what success looks like.
And we don’t agree.
At all.
Spoiler alert:
True success isn’t…
– The number of followers on your Instagram account.
– Booking as many weddings as you can every year.
– Reaching six-figures.
– Getting featured on “that blog”
– Getting the destination wedding in that one location.
Feeling confused?
Let us explain…
We watched a documentary about a very well-known rock ‘n’ roll band. I was half listening to the documentary and half nose in a book.
Until a very specific part of the documentary captured my attention.
The very words exchanged resonated so deeply with me.
In a 30 second span of time, this documentary gave such eloquent words to so much of our heart behind how and why we started coaching other photographers.
→ It’s why we host free online workshops in our FB group The Inner Circle.
→ It’s why we created our course, Purpose & Profit for wedding photographers and videographers.
→ It’s why we offer powerful community and group coaching through a Mastermind.
→ It’s why we invest our time, and energy, and money into growing as coaches so that we can lean-in wholeheartedly with others in their business journey.
Wanna know what they said??
The band talked about the moment they “made it big” and achieved the goal of becoming a big famous rock and roll band.
I’ve transcribed their words below…
Person 1: [“Making it”/Reaching the goal] this, of course, brought with it some great joy, some pride, and some problems.
Person 2: Of course it changed our life. We were now a big rock ‘n’ roll band. Playing in stadiums.
Person 1: But then…you don’t know what you’re in it for anymore. You’re in it to achieve massive success and get rich and famous and all those other things that go along with it. And when that’s all suddenly done, you’re asking “hmm, well, why? What next?”
So much of the talk in the wedding industry is centered on things like…
None of these things are bad AT ALL..
But…
If they become the goal, if we start believing “Once I achieve xyz, then I’ll…”
Eventually, you’ll be scratching your head asking yourself the same thing this band asked. “Why am I doing this again? Now what?
The goalpost always moves.
Unless you define what it’s all for BEFORE you achieve success, you’ll always be chasing what feels out of your reach.
What are you creating for?
Who are you creating for?
What is enough?
