While Instagram is practically a photography portfolio site these days, your website still plays an incredible crucial role in your client’s journey from inquiry to booking.
In fact, I read a stat not long ago that said a customer’s buying journey (aka their decision making) is 60% complete by the time they reach a salesperson.
That means everything you’re putting out into the world prior to that inquiry hitting your inbox is super important.
It’s setting the tone.
It’s building their perception of your brand.
It’s communicating a specific message… so let’s make sure it’s communicating the right one.
If you want to turn “just browsing” to “just booked” there are a few things we should make sure are cleaned up and looking fresh for those new potential clients.
From a 30,000ft view, there are a few key things to take into consideration when you’re critiquing your own site through the lens of “is my website good at converting browsers into buyers?”
Here are 4 QUICK & EASY things you can do RIGHT NOW to make sure you aren’t losing the trust of potential buyers by making these simple mistakes…
Avoid errors of all types, no matter how small they seem. Typos and broken links can hurt your site’s credibility more than most people realize.
Things to look for: spelling or grammatical errors, broken links, how quickly your site launches & runs.
Find a professional design that matches the aesthetic of your brand.
Let’s be real. It’s 2024. There are graphic designers, website templates & Canva. You have no excuse for having a crappy website.
Does the visual design match your site’s purpose (hint: a pro site for a fine-art studio portrait photographer will have a different look and feel than a pro site for a documentary photographer)?
Is there consistency in your images & overall brand design?
Is typography consistent in size, type, color and IS IT EASY TO READ?
Paint a picture of your experience and expertise through social proof!
Things to include: direct quotes from clients talking about how your experience not just impacted them. Even better if you can pair it with a photo of them to convey that it’s a real human who said these things.
If I don’t know where to contact you, I won’t.
If I can’t quickly & easily figure out how to find the information I want to see, I’ll get distracted and start scrolling Instagram.
It’s sad, but true. Don’t let your design be a distraction.
