Why You’re Not Booking More Weddings

Desire is a funny thing. I heard someone once say it’s akin to creating WANT. I liked that.

Most photographers hope they create desire by sharing “good work” or proving they can also follow what’s on trend.
This is not the way 👎🏽
Desire, want, longing is about way more than a photograph. It’s about story, experience, transformation, and aspiration. It’s about inviting people in and allowing them to see themselves within the stories we tell….and sometimes the stories people tell about us.

If you want to book more weddings let’s talk about DESIRE.

Zig Ziglar famously said that there are only 5 main reasons people don’t buy from you…

  • No need
  • No desire
  • No money
  • No hurry
  • No trust

While we can’t have control over all of these reasons, there are a few we can work to sway in our favor.

And the biggest one we see most photographers failing at…

BUILDING DESIRE

Desire is the emotional connection that a couple feels towards your work.

It’s that yearning that turns casual browsing into inquiries and inquiries into bookings.

It’s more than just “liking” your work—it’s envisioning themselves in it.

Without desire, even the “best work” can fail to CONVERT

To create desire…

  • Connect with clients on an emotional level
  • Tell compelling stories through your work
  • Share the emotions and narratives behind your work
  • Make it personal and relatable
  • Show them how your photography isn’t just about capturing moments—it’s about sharing feelings, memories, and stories. Invite them to become part of your art.

Here’s an action step:

Choose one of your favorite weddings, turn it into a carousel, and write a short caption for it that tells its STORY. Remember, what’s most personal is most universal.

Don’t forget to invite your audience to engage with it. This approach fuels interest and builds desire turning those people just scrolling into real inquiries!
